Google finally unveils Nexus 5

What is probably the worst kept secret in mobile phone history, Nexus 5 leaks had become so common in the last few weeks that we all got to know almost all there is to know about the device. From renders of the device to videos of it running the new OS, we have seen it all. But one question we all kept asking, “When?”. And it seems the wait is finally over; as the Google Play Store has finally went live with the Nexus 5 listing, taking orders for the 16GB and 32GB versions, in both Black and White colors.

Everything you heard about the device is true: It runs the latest and greatest version of the Android OS: – version 4.4 KitKat. Along with the OS the device is a great upgrade in hardware specs in every way from the Nexus 4: it has a full HD 1080p resolution 4.95 inch display, a blazing fast quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, an 8-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, 2GB of RAM, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.

Google once again offers the phone in a very attractive price, this time around $350 for the 16GB model, and $400 for the 32GB one.

From the specs, this seems one of the best smartphones around, it’s price notwithstanding. At this price, it’s absolutely a steal.

Update: The 16GB Black version of the phone has already been sold out within less than an hour, and the listed estimated time for shipping for it “by November 8”. The other versions are still in stock, with shipping time within 1-2 business days.
