OK Mobile recently released details of its new products ( some of which are already available now) via its official website. As mentioned before, the company is taking it slow and steady with their expansion into the market and is starting off with two types of mobile devices: bar phones and smartphones. As of writing this article, one bar phone and one smartphone are up for sale with one more bar phone and two Android devices deemed to arrive soon.
Bar Phones:
These are your no-nonsense utility phones. The bar phones feature tiny screens coupled with the most basic camera and a torchlight. The main purpose of these devices is to act as a mobile phone, not a portable computer.
Smart Phones:
OK Mobile is now selling the K5, a very barebones Android device with a small 3.5inch display, dual core 1.3GHz processor supported by 256Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The cameras are nothing special either with just a 0.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 2 megapixel rear camera. The good thing about the device is that it is running Android 4.2.2 Jellybean. However the storage and RAM limitations greatly hinder what you can do on the device.
Looking towards the future, OK Mobile’s prospects seem more promising. The flagship for the company appears to be the Jupiter Z7, a device running Android 4.4 KitKat powered by an octa core processor and 2GB RAM.
Right now OK Mobile needs to focus on getting its name across in the vast Android market followed by providing good quality for an affordable price. If the company wants to compete in this oversaturated market, it will have to be clever and find a way to stand out. Aside from the eminent threat coming from competing brands, the company seems headed towards a good start.
