We all own these little multi functional gadgets in our pockets these days and cannot live without it. Each year, we rank the best smartphones that were released throughout the year and for 2016, we have selected the Top 6 ones in the list.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
Samsung has been one of the fore-runners in the smart phone market but for a past few years it was lagging a little behind but with its new launch: the Samsung galaxy s7, it is back in the game.
Samsung s7 Edge has a curved screen which is a new interesting feature and not just on the department of looks, this gadget is an all-rounder and gives a tough competition to the IPhone as well. With a 12MP auto-focus camera and 4GB RAM, it gives little room to complain. Although the sloping edge can seem a little tricky for some people but for those who handle their phones all the time, it should not pose any problem.
Pros:
- Stunning outer design
- Great 12MP camera
- IP68 water resistance
- Amazing quad-HD display
- Unique design
Cons:
- Poor speakers
- Problematic touchwiz
- Overly reflective touch screen
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
Yes, I used ‘The’ in front of iPhone because that is how iPhones are advertised: that they are ‘the’ smartphones. The new phone has obviously delivered quite a good service with being water resistant, having an incredible quad-core processor and a huge 32GB storage capacity. The camera upgrades are also commendable.
Pros:
- Water resistant
- 32, 128 and 256GB storage options
- 4.7-inch 326ppi wide-color-gamut display
- 12MP rear and 7MP front camera
- Taptic engine with 3D touch
- A10 fusion chip
Cons:
- Poor battery life
- No new design features
- Expensive (duh)
One-Plus 3T
This company is the new internet phenomena with a disruptive product and selling strategy. It has a good battery capacity (at least better than its predecessors), better camera and a faster CPU. With a 4GB RAM and a snapdragon technology, the new One Plus 3T gives an impressive performance. The 128GB internal storage is mind-boggling and all of this leaves hardly any space to find faults.
Pros:
- Good camera
- Good battery life
- Durable and strong built
- Value for money
Cons:
- No FM radio
- Touch issues
Moto Z
The new Moto has a lot to offer and Motorola has really shown the world that they are the real boss in the smart phone business. The video camera quality deserves special mention and the processor is incredible.
Pros:
- Great screen resolution
- Slim and lightweight
- Easy and comfortable grip
- Moto-mods
Cons:
- Hybrid sim slot
- Faulty fingerprint placement
- A little too expensive
LG G5
The quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon technology gives the LG G5 an edge over its competitors. The 4GB RAM and modular base make it almost unbeatable.
Pros:
- Good resolution of screen
- Excellent camera
- Decent battery life
Cons:
- Tacky design
- Poor internal storage
Xiaomi Mi Mix
Xiaomi Mi Mix is what the future of smartphones would be looking like. What was once a concept is now a reality. The same old design of the smartphones was getting boring and thanks to Xiaomi for changing that. The main attraction of the Mi Mix is the design of the phone and how bezel-less it is. The 6.4 inch display is a full HD one with a resolution of 2040×1080 having an aspect ratio of 17:9. The rear camera is a 16MP one with a front facing being a 5MP which is located in an awkward position at the bottom which is not ideal. The Mi Mix apart from looking all futuristic is armed with Snapdragon 821 processor and has a 4GB or 6GB of RAM onboard depending on the version. For the storage
Pros:
- Amazing Design
- Almost no bezel
- Great storage capacity
- Good battery life despite screen size
Cons:
- MIUI is a bit of mess as no app drawer
- Camera is average
- Front facing camera position not ideal.
Well, these are the top 6 smartphones of 2016 and as usual, if I have done an injustice to any smartphone by not putting them in the list, drop the name of the device in the comments section below!
