It is no secret Google has been in a perpetual state of improvement with its speech recognition and voice assistance. Being incorporated into all its offerings, Google takes speech recognition quite seriously. This acquisition further affirms this intention. Limes Audio’s experience of around 10 years should help Google develop its voice assistance for noisier environments such as coffee shops and offices. Echo cancellation, noise reduction and overall enhancement remain principle objectives for Limes Audio. Additionally, Google plans on catering to the needs of those with poor internet connection.
“One of the biggest challenges to a great video meeting is the audio quality. Conference rooms today come in all shapes and sizes and that can provide a challenge for acoustics.”-says one Serge Lachapelle, Director of Product Management for Google cloud on their official blog.
Although no official projects have been announced, this acquisition seems to be a good one. This is also the 4th Swedish acquisition by Google in the last 12 months.
