Foldable iPhone coming in 2023 – According to Top Apple Analyst

Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable Apple analyst confirmed that a foldable iPhone might be in the works by Apple and to be released by 2023. No specific date on when it’ll be released.

As per Kuo, the device is expected to have a QHD+ resolution & with a screen size of 8” in diagonal when unfolded.

Based on our latest industry survey, we forecast that Apple will likely launch a foldable iPhone with an 8-inch QHD+ flexible OLED display in 2023, with SDC as the exclusive display supplier and Samsung Foundry as the exclusive DDI foundry provider. Based on Apple’s requested capacity plan, we predict that the foldable ?iPhone? shipments will reach 15-20 million units in 2023. We expect that the foldable iPhone will adopt TPK’s silver nanowire touch solution because of its several advantages over SDC’s Y-Octa technology.

Kuo’s words

As per Kuo, the ‘foldable’ feature is a must-have for all major smartphone brand after 5G.

Xiaomi, Samsung & Huawei have already introduced their versions but due to its high price tag, the demand isn’t being generated as expected. Additionally, Kuo also informed that Apple would want to lead the foldable device trend which as per him, “will blur the product segmentations between smartphones, tablets, and laptops.”

2023 is still far away and within this time period, we will be receiving more information whether at all Apple will pursue this project.
