The world’s most popular music streaming service, Spotify, was available to millions of Bangladeshis back in February. & with the official launch, music fanatics in Bangladesh had access to 70 million international & local tracks.
However, to avail the premium subscription, the only option to buy one was through cards as no other digital payment method was available…until now.
In a post published by Grameenphone, GP users can now buy the premium subscription by paying with their balance.
This is indeed a great inclusion by Spotify, thanks to Grameenphone since it would open the gates for those who don’t have credit/debit cards. Win-win for both the sides!
However, purchase through Grameenphone credits will only be possible for the Individual Premium Plan initially. After you have bought the plan, you will then be able to upgrade to other tiers by paying using your GP credits. Once you enter your number, you will get the OTP code from Fortumo, a mobile payment company that has partnered with Grameenphone for direct carrier billing.

Any taxes for Spotify Subscription ?
Of course! User has to pay extra 33.25% tax which includes VAT + SD + SC. The total cost for individual premium plan sums up to Tk 265.16 instead of Tk 100
It would have been great if it was mentioned properly before hitting the PIN button as the extra cost comes with a surprise!
Nevertheless, great initiative by Grameenphone. Everyone expected one of the mobile financial services to be available for payment however seems like this is a win from the telco side.
